"No Gbagyi Commissioner In The State Cabinet" – Gbagyi Community Leader Petitions Gov. Uba Sani Over Alleged Marginalization

Members of the Gbagyi community in Kaduna State have sent a heartfelt petition to Governor Uba Sani, expressing concern over what they describe as growing marginalization in the current administration.

The letter, signed by Comrade Hassan Maisamari Nakowa, highlighted the absence of a Gbagyi representative in the state cabinet, particularly the position of commissioner.

He noted that despite the political strength and contributions of the Gbagyi people, especially in Chikun Local Government under the APC, no single Gbagyi person has been appointed to the governor’s cabinet.

Nakowa acknowledged the efforts of the current administration in uniting the state and improving governance. However, he raised three major concerns affecting the Gbagyi people, particularly those in Chikun Local Government Area.

No Gbagyi Commissioner in the State Cabinet

The letter expressed disappointment over the absence of any Gbagyi person in the state’s executive council, especially in the commissioner-level appointments. Nakowa pointed out that despite the political relevance and contributions of the Gbagyi people, particularly in Chikun under the APC banner, they remain unrepresented in key decision-making positions.

"It is very worrisome that we are yet to have one of us appointed in any portfolio office. This makes us feel neglected, marginalized, and politically irrelevant in this administration," the letter stated.

Concerns Over Alleged Relocation of Kaduna Polytechnic

The letter also addressed growing rumors about a possible relocation of Kaduna Polytechnic from its current location in the Television area. According to Nakowa, signs such as physical land mapping, street layout, and ongoing construction on Polytechnic land have sparked fears among locals that the institution is being quietly moved.

He urged the governor to investigate the matter and provide clarity, emphasizing the symbolic and practical significance of the institution to the local population.

Exclusion from Qatar Housing Project

Nakowa further criticized the implementation of the Qatar-sponsored housing project for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Chikun, stating that no Gbagyi individual has benefited from the initiative. This is despite the fact that the project is being carried out on what he described as Gbagyi ancestral land.

“The camp is sited in our ancestral land, yet none of our people have benefited from the housing project,” he lamented.

A Call for Inclusion

Concluding the letter, Cmrd. Nakowa appealed for equitable treatment, urging Governor Sani to take immediate steps to address the concerns of the Gbagyi people. He expressed hope that under the governor’s leadership, the state can foster unity, fairness, and inclusive development.
