Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed.  PROTEST ROCKS GBOKO AS CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DECRIES KILLINGS BY ARMED HERDSMEN IN BENUE

5th July, 2025

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, on Friday led a massive protest in Gboko, the heart of Tiv land, to denounce the continued killings of residents in Benue State by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen.

Worshippers from various denominations joined the demonstration, marching through major roads with placards, singing solemn hymns, and crying out against the relentless bloodshed.

Many were visibly emotional, expressing sorrow and frustration over the government’s perceived failure to halt the attacks.

The protesters condemned what they described as the systematic targeting of innocent villagers, including women and children by armed groups who invade communities under the guise of cattle grazing.

Chants demanding justice and government intervention echoed through the town, as CAN officials called on authorities at all levels to rise to their constitutional duty of protecting lives.

The Gboko protest comes just hours after another outcry in Agan, a Makurdi suburb, where women blocked the Makurdi–Lafia highway over similar grievances.
