A MASSIVE LANDSLIDE STRUCK IN INDIA, BLOCKING THE ROAD. (PHOTOS).

A massive landslide struck the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang (BCT) National Highway today around 1:45 pm at Km 191.70, between Sapper Camp and Nyukmadung in Dirang. The incident completely blocked the road and disrupted traffic on the vital route. While no lives were lost, a few vehicles were damaged. Officials said the landslide was likely caused by heavy rainfall over the past few days, even though there was no rain at the time of the incident.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) immediately deployed manpower and machinery to clear the debris. Workers are continuing clearance operations even during the night to restore connectivity on the Tawang route. However, BRO officials informed that the restoration work will take overnight and normal traffic flow is expected to resume only after full clearance.

Following the landslide, the Dirang Administration issued an advisory for public safety. All commuters have been asked to avoid traveling on the route until clearance is complete. Residents living in vulnerable areas have been advised to stay alert, especially during night hours, and to evacuate if necessary. The advisory also strictly prohibits night travel until the road is fully restored. Emergency contact numbers of local officials have been shared for assistance.

Authorities have urged commuters to check road conditions before planning any journey. The landslide has disrupted surface communication in the region, but officials assured that all efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience and ensure safe passage. The administration has also requested adequate resources for clearance to speed up the restoration process.
