Ebem Ohafia Community Bans Cooking Gas Sales, Cultism, and Scrap Dealing to Curb Crime

In a decisive move to prevent potential disasters and rising crime, the Ebem Ohafia community in Ohafia Local Government Area has imposed an outright ban on the sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Ebem market. The decision was announced in a communique issued by the Ebem Ujurueze Palace, Ekeleugo Ebem, following an emergency meeting of the Council of Chiefs and Elders.

The communique, signed by the paramount ruler, Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, President General of EODU, Emeka Mba, Idika Kalu Uche, Ifeanyi Okali, and other community leaders, also outlawed cultism, gangsterism, and drug abuse with immediate effect. The leaders condemned these activities and urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against involvement. Landlords whose properties are used for such practices were directed to evict offenders or face disciplinary measures.

In a further crackdown, the community issued a stern warning that anyone found in unlawful possession of firearms would be handed over to law enforcement agencies. Additionally, all scrap dealers in Ebem Ohafia were given a two-week ultimatum to cease operations or face stringent disciplinary action. The leaders attributed this measure to rising cases of vandalism and property break-ins, with security reports linking these crimes to the activities of scrap dealers and their suppliers.

The Ebem Ohafia community’s bold actions underscore its commitment to restoring safety and order, signaling zero tolerance for activities threatening the peace and security of the ancient kingdom.
