Reacting to the report, Dr. Bakare expressed appreciation to the Almighty God for his mercies and urged members of the department to continue to put in their best to deliver pregnant women and their children safely to ensure continuity of a whole generation and the happiness of respective families is kept sacrosanct.

"Congratulations to all. Thank God for His mercies endureth forever. Please keep it up," he said.

Presenting the report to the Medical Director last week, the Director of Clinical Services & Training/Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr.  Akinwunmi Akinyemi had expressed delight at achieving the feat, just as he thanked God, Management, and the staff for their support during the months under review.

"It is with utmost pleasure and gratitude to God that I inform you that there has been no mortality for the past three months (May, June, and July) in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Hospital, Badagry. This could only have been possible by the relentless efforts of everyone in the department, with the cooperation of the hard-working nurses, laboratory staff,  pharmacists, records, and our untiring attendants, facility managers, and support staff. The immense and unflinching support of the hospital management and leadership is highly appreciated in this feat," he said.

Dr. Akinyemi charged the concerned staff to see the achievement of zero maternal mortality in the department as unique, deserving to be celebrated, and appealed to the combined health workers to continue to make more efforts so that the health facility can help in reducing the maternal mortality ratio in the Badagry Local Government Area and the State at large.
