 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs.  Hospital Administrator Speaks Out Against Vandalism, Calls for Perimeter Fencing

The Anambra State Hospitals Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, has strongly condemned the recent vandalism of state-owned hospitals. During a visit to General Hospital Mgbakwu in Awka South Local Government Area, Dr. Ifeanaeme expressed disappointment over the destruction of hospital equipment and furniture by hoodlums.


The vandalism has not only caused significant financial losses but also affected the morale of hospital workers. Dr. Ifeanaeme urged the community's President General, Mr. Chukwu Basil Nwokeoma, to mobilize community members to volunteer for security patrols, especially during peak hours and at night. He also suggested installing CCTV cameras and additional solar lights to enhance security.


A key issue highlighted by Dr. Ifeanaeme was the lack of perimeter fencing around the hospital, which made it easier for vandals to access the premises. He proposed that all hospitals should have perimeter fencing to prevent future incidents. This measure would not only protect hospital property but also provide a safer environment for healthcare workers to attend to patients without fear.


He emphasized the importance of community-government partnership in maintaining hospital security and providing a conducive environment for healthcare workers,  commending the community's support  for assuring him of providing adequate water supply for the hospital and encouraged them to see the hospital as their own.


During his visit, Dr. Ifeanaeme also inspected an erosion site at General Hospital Amanuke, which poses a threat to the hospital building. He promised to discuss the issue with the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, to find a lasting solution.


The hospital administrator appreciated the workers' efforts in maintaining a clean environment and wearing uniforms with name tags. He encouraged them to continue enlightening the community about the government's healthcare initiatives, including free antenatal, delivery, and Caesarean services for pregnant mothers.
