 So Linus Williams (Blord) has been released from Kuje prison after fulfilling his bail conditions, finally, freedom after a few weeks in custody. However, here’s the current position of his case:  He is still expected to show up and stand his trial.  If he fails to appear in court even for one day, his bail can be revoked and a bench warrant may be issued against him, meaning a return to Kuje. If the prosecution cannot prove the charges against him, he will be discharged and acquitted. If the prosecution proves the charges, he may be sentenced and sent back to Kuje. I think he should seek a peaceful resolution to the case. Congrats to him on his freedom for now.

 LASG TAKES SAFETY FIRE AWARENESS TO MARKET PLACES, MOTOR PARKS



In response to the recent surge of fire outbreaks across major marketplaces in Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations has rolled out a statewide sensitisation and advocacy programme to strengthen fire safety


awareness in markets and motor parks.


 


Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in preventing fire incidents, stating that preparedness is not just the government's responsibility.


He explained that the initiative is designed to educate traders, transport operators, and market leaders on preventive measures, emergency response strategies, and the safe use of electrical appliances and other fire-prone materials. 


“By bringing this campaign directly to areas of high vulnerability, the Ministry aims to reduce risks, protect livelihoods, and safeguard lives and property”, he stated.


According to him, the first phase of the programme will feature a Roadshow and Sensitisation exercises across Markets and motor parks in Ketu, Agege, Ile Epo, Iyana Ipaja, Ipodo, Arena and Oshodi Markets, to raise awareness and promote fire safety practices.


Mr. Oyerinde called for cooperation among market leaders, men, and women to prioritise safety and adopt a zero-tolerance approach to fire outbreaks.


 


The Permanent Secretary, Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Sesan Ogundeko, commended the market leadership for their coordinated efforts and assured that the Ministry would continue to promote safety practices across all markets in the state.


 


He assured that the government remains committed to making Lagos State a safe, secure, and resilient place for everyone, stressing that the initiative is part of the strategic effort to reduce the risk of future fire disasters and protect lives and livelihoods.
