 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life.  Medics Profs.Emegoakor,Umeononihu Re-echo Breast/Cervical cancers Consciousness As Anambra Women Hold August Meetings

As women in Igboland converge to discuss domestic issues in their various August Meetings fora,a lot is expected of them to proffer solutions to endemic problems challenging families and the society.


A press statement in Awka by the Medical Director,El- Dorado Multi-Specialist Hospital ,  Awka Professor Chiemelu Emegoakor tasked them to focus attention on the reality of cervical cancer among them unarguably the second commonest cause of death among them after breast cancer which ranks number one.


According to the medical director,women should go for periodic checks to ascertain their breast/cervical cancers status in government approved health establishments.


He announced that for now,free vaccines are available nationwide in government's general hospitals and health centres for cervical cancer prevention where they can be administered.


To this end,Prof.Emegoakor urged women to take their young girls before their reproductive ages to the centres to get vaccinated to guarantee their cervical cancer free status.


 Going forward,the medical director used the forum to challenge women to deliberate on the incessant incidence of domestic violence in the society with a view to reducing the scourge.


He recommended tolerance, understanding and dialogue as measures towards tackling the menace 


In another message,an Obstetrician Gynae Oncologist, Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching hospital Nnewi Campus Associate Prof.Osita Umeononihu also spoke of the availability of the vaccines in the general hospitals and health centres and advised women to take their young girls between the ages of 9 to 13 to get 2 doses of the vaccines to stay protected from contracting the virus.


Prof.Umeononihu further advised women up to the age of 30 to take seriously their personal screenings for the early detection of breast/ cervical cancers.


According to the medical expert, early detection is sine qua non to assured cure of the diseases.
