Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday.  Ogun Prisons in Crisis: Inmates Sleep Standing, Await Trial for Years

Ogun State correctional centres face severe overcrowding, with inmates sleeping standing and awaiting trial for over a decade. At Ibara Centre, built for 1,600, over 3,000 inmates are crammed in.

Former detainees report disease outbreaks, poor healthcare, and mental breakdowns. “We slept like sardines. Some died from ulcers, others went mad,” said one ex-inmate.

Chief Judge Mosunmola Dipeolu confirmed inmates in Sagamu can’t lie down due to congestion. Despite laws against prolonged pre-trial detention, enforcement remains weak. Stakeholders are calling for urgent reforms.
