 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  Thousands protest in Tel Aviv against Netanyahu’s Gaza plan, call for hostages to be freed

Thousands gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday night to protest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to escalate the war in Gaza, demanding an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages held by militants. The demonstration reflected growing public opposition to the government’s decision to expand military operations into Gaza City, announced the day before by Netanyahu’s security cabinet despite warnings that such a move could put hostages at greater risk.

Families of hostages, including Lishay Miran Lavi, wife of captive Omri Miran, pleaded for international intervention to end the conflict, urging U.S. President Donald Trump to act. Polls show a strong majority of Israelis favor ending the war swiftly to secure the release of about 50 hostages believed to still be alive. The Israeli government has faced criticism both domestically and internationally, including from European allies, over its hardline approach. Organizers estimated over 100,000 protesters took part, many holding Israeli flags, images of hostages, and signs calling for peace. Voices at the rally questioned the ongoing violence, highlighting the heavy toll on both Israelis and Gazans after nearly two years of fighting.
