 Guinea-Bissau stops vaccine study funded by Trump administration Guinea-Bissau's foreign minister has said his government has stopped a study funded by the Trump administration aiming to evaluate side effects of the life-saving hepatitis B vaccine, including any links to autism. The West African country, one of the region's poorest, has high rates of hepatitis B, and the prospective study had drawn an outcry from scientists and international health bodies because only half the newborns in the trial would get the vaccine at birth. World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said it was not ethical. Guinea-Bissau last month suspended the trial pending an ethical review.   WAEC Releases 2025 WASSCE Results for School Candidates


The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates. The announcement was made via a statement posted on X at 12:53 PM WAT on Monday, August 4, 2025.


According to WAEC, candidates who participated in the 2025 WASSCE can now access their results online. “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 4, 2025,” the statement read.


Candidates are directed to visit the official WAEC result portal at http://waecdirect.org to check their performance. The council advised candidates to ensure they have their examination details ready to log in and view their results.


The release of the 2025 WASSCE results marks a significant milestone for thousands of students across Nigeria and other West African countries, as the results determine eligibility for tertiary education and other academic pursuits.
