Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Concerned Citizen Raises Alarm As Patients Lie On Chairs At Overcrowded Barau Dikko Hospital, Calls For Government Intervention

A public petition has raised alarm over the worsening conditions at Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Kaduna, where patients are reportedly forced to lie on chairs due to lack of beds at the Emergency Unit.

The petition, signed by a concerned citizen, Mr. Nasiru Jagaba, described the situation during a visit to the hospital on Friday, September 12, 2025, as “heartbreaking,” citing congestion, inadequate staff, and limited facilities.

According to him, patients were left in pain while relatives appeared confused, as the few available nurses and doctors struggled to cope with the overwhelming number of cases.

In the midst of the chaos, Jagaba singled out Dr. Makama, one of the doctors at the Emergency Unit, for commendation. He described him as “a hero who, despite exhaustion, continued to give his strength, skill, and heart to saving lives.”

While calling on the Kaduna State Government to recognize and reward the doctor’s efforts, Jagaba stressed that one man’s sacrifice was not enough to fix a failing system.

He urged the government to immediately decongest Barau Dikko by transferring excess patients to the newly built hospital in Millennium City. He also called for the recruitment of more doctors and nurses, as well as the provision of additional facilities and equipment to ensure that patients are treated with dignity.

“This is not politics. This is about human life. Every passing day without action means another preventable death,” the petition stated.

Jagaba appealed to the state government to act swiftly, saying citizens must not continue to lose their lives due to challenges that could be resolved with decisive intervention.
