 NAFDAC Warns Of Fake Toothpaste Circulating In Kaduna, Orders Nationwide Crackdown The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians about the circulation of suspected counterfeit toothpaste in Kaduna State, raising concerns over consumer safety and public health. According to the agency, the fake products are designed to imitate popular Colgate toothpaste, potentially deceiving buyers into believing they are genuine. The discovery followed a complaint received by NAFDAC’s Post-Marketing Surveillance team, which prompted an investigation. During inspections, officials found two suspected fake products labeled “Coglaet ActivGel 100g” and “Coglaet Herbal 100g” being sold at a local shop.  The retailer reportedly could not provide proof of purchase, claiming the items were supplied by a door-to-door distributor.  DR ARASE WAS AN INSTITUTION IN HIMSELF, A RARE BLEND OF INTELLECT, DISCIPLINE, AND HUMANITY - IGP EGBETOKUN


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has paid tribute to the late Inspector-General of Police and former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, Ph.D., NPM, FDC, CFR, describing his passing as “a loss that rests heavily, not only on his family, but on the Nigeria Police Force and the nation at large.”


The IGP gave this tribute on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, at the Day of Tributes in Celebration of the Life and Times of Late IGP Solomon Ehigiator Arase (Rtd), an event organised to honour the remarkable life, career, and contributions of the 18th indigenous Inspector-General of Police.


Reflecting on the life and career of the late IGP, Dr. Arase, IGP Egbetokun eulogised him as more than a police officer, but “an institution in himself, a rare blend of intellect, discipline, and humanity”. He recalled that from the moment Dr. Arase joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP in 1981, his career became “a lesson in resilience, excellence, and duty. Moving through the ranks with quiet confidence, inspired not merely by ambition but by a genuine desire to leave the organisation better than he met it”. Dr. Arase rose to become the 18th indigenous Inspector-General of Police in 2015.


Present at the event were notable dignitaries including the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole; former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah; former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; as well as former Inspectors-General of Police: Sunday Ehindero, Mike Mbama Okiro, Ogbonna Okechukwu Onovo, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, Suleiman Abba, and Usman Alkali Baba, alongside several other eminent personalities, colleagues, and well-wishers who gathered to honour the late IGP’s remarkable legacy.
