 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  HOUSE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC MATTERS COMMISERATES WITH NASC OVER DEMISE OF A STAFF


The House of Representatives committee on public service matters has commiserated with the National Assembly Service Commission over the death of its staff, Mr Titus Apollos.


During an oversight to the Commission, the committee led by the Chairman Sani Umar Bala, and management observed a minute silence  in his honor and prayers offered for the repose of his soul.


In a statement, the Deputy Director Information of the Commission Emmanuel anyigbor says that the executive chairman of the Commission   Saviour Enyiekere had in addition to higlighting some challenges of the commission  briefed the committee on the demise of Mr Appolos, who he said has been receiving treatment at Garki General Hospital at the expense of the Commission.


The deceased was said to have visited the office on Tuesday this week from the hospital, to solicit for further financial assistance, which was not readily available, and he unfortunately died next day.


Dr Enyiekere highlighted to the committee, some critical challenges facing the Commission including inadequate office accommodation, inadequate funds for staff welfare concerns among others.


He appealed for the intervention of the committee towards expedited completion of the permanent office complex.
