 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. INDIA: A WORRYING SURGE IN HIV-POSITIVE CASES HAS BEEN REPORTED IN HOJAI DISTRICT OF ASSAM, WITH 27 NEW CASES DETECTED BETWEEN APRIL AND JUNE THIS YEAR. (PHOTO).


 A worrying surge in HIV-positive cases has been reported in Hojai district of Assam, with 27 new cases detected between April and June this year. Among them is a pregnant woman, raising fresh concerns over the spread of the infection in the region.


According to Dr. Basudev Malakar, Principal of Hojai Civil Hospital, 495 men were tested during the period, of which 26 were confirmed HIV-positive. Additionally, 882 pregnant women underwent screening, and one case was found positive. He attributed the increase mainly to unprotected drug use and unsafe sexual contact with infected individuals.


Dr. Malakar appealed to the public to undergo immediate testing if they have used unsterilized needles or engaged in risky practices, stressing that actual cases could be much higher than reported. He reminded that HIV testing at civil hospitals is completely free of charge and urged patients to take precautions to prevent further transmission.


To tackle the rising numbers, health camps offering free HIV testing and awareness drives will soon be organised across Hojai district with the support of health officials and local MLAs. Authorities have called on the community to cooperate fully and adopt preventive measures to stop the spread of the virus.
