 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence.  POLICE ARREST WOMAN OVER ALLEGED ATTEMPT TO TRAFFIC THREE CHILDREN IN NASARAWA

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old woman, Aisha Hashiru, for allegedly attempting to traffic three minors in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.


Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday in Lafia.


According to him, the suspect was caught on September 4 at about 5:45 p.m. by vigilant residents at Orange Market, Mararaba, while attempting to abduct the children. She was rescued from being lynched after operatives of Mararaba ‘A’ Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, intervened swiftly.


The rescued victims were identified as Fatima Auwal, 4, Shafiyi Auwal, 5, and Amina Auwal, 6.


“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect sneaked into the residence of one Ramatu Auwal and abducted her three children. She was intercepted shortly after, and upon interrogation, confessed to luring them under the pretext of buying biscuits,” Nansel stated.


He added that Commissioner of Police, Shettima Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for further investigation.


The commissioner further tasked officers to intensify efforts at resolving other reported cases of missing children, reaffirming the command’s resolve to combat human trafficking in the state.
