 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity.  SECURITY INFORMATION IN ANAMBRA ON RIVAL CULT ATTACKS: POLICE STEP UP PATROLS AND SURVEILLANCE IN THE STATE


Following credible intelligence about a planned cult rivalry clash especially in Awka, Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS), Enugwu-Ukwu, have intensified patrols and surveillance to forestall any breakdown of law and order.


The Command has also activated necessary non-kinetic approaches in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Anti-Cultism and the State Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), to ensure a coordinated strategy in tackling cultism and its associated crimes.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, reassures residents of the Command’s readiness to respond swiftly to any threat to public safety. He urges parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against involvement in cult activities, while also encouraging the public to report suspicious movements or gatherings to the Police for prompt action.
