 Guinea-Bissau stops vaccine study funded by Trump administration Guinea-Bissau's foreign minister has said his government has stopped a study funded by the Trump administration aiming to evaluate side effects of the life-saving hepatitis B vaccine, including any links to autism. The West African country, one of the region's poorest, has high rates of hepatitis B, and the prospective study had drawn an outcry from scientists and international health bodies because only half the newborns in the trial would get the vaccine at birth. World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said it was not ethical. Guinea-Bissau last month suspended the trial pending an ethical review. Critics had said it was being used to test theories linking vaccines to autism, long promoted by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr but contradicted by scientific evidence.  Canadian man found dead in Lagos hotel room


The police in Lagos State have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a Canadian national identified simply as Sullivan, who was found lifeless in his hotel room in Victoria Island.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of October 7, just five days after Sullivan checked into the hotel on October 2.

According to a hotel attendant who spoke on condition of anonymity, the guest was discovered unresponsive on the floor of his room after several attempts to reach him failed.

The hotel’s Chief Security Officer subsequently reported the incident to the Victoria Island Police Division around 4:30 pm.

Police detectives promptly arrived at the scene, where they documented and examined the area.

A police source confirmed that no visible marks of violence were found on Sullivan’s body, indicating that foul play was not immediately suspected.

The deceased’s remains were later transported to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where a medical officer pronounced him dead.

His body has since been deposited in the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

While preliminary findings suggest no evidence of homicide, the Lagos State Police Command has said that further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
