 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  FIDA SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH WAPA AHEAD OF ANNUAL GENERAL CONFERENCE 


The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Lagos Branch, led by its Chairperson, Barrister Mrs. Abimbola Oladigba-Jack has paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) to seek collaboration and support ahead of the Association’s forthcoming Annual General Conference (AGC).


During the visit, which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, Mrs. Oladigba-Jack highlighted FIDA’s numerous humanitarian and advocacy initiatives, including legal assistance to vulnerable groups, community outreach programmes, and free law mobile clinics designed to promote access to justice for women and children.


In her response, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. (Mrs.) Bolaji Cecilia Dada commended FIDA Lagos for its unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and the protection of women’s rights. She expressed the Ministry’s readiness to partner with the Association, noting that the forthcoming three-day Annual General Conference, which will feature a health walk, conference sessions, and a dinner, aligns perfectly with WAPA’s mandate to promote women’s empowerment and inclusion.


Hon. Dada, who is also expected to deliver the keynote address at the conference, assured FIDA of her full support towards the success of the event.


Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo pledged the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with FIDA Lagos, particularly in initiatives that advance women’s rights and access to justice across the state.
