Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv.  Adara Development Association Decries Renewed Attacks, Seeks Government Intervention

The Adara Development Association (ADA) has urged the Nigerian government to take decisive action against what it described as “renewed and coordinated attacks” on Adara communities in Kaduna State.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Livinus Paul Jatau, the association lamented that escalating violence in Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas has created a “full-blown humanitarian crisis,” leaving hundreds dead and many communities displaced.

According to ADA, the crisis ongoing since 2016, has persisted despite peace efforts. Between 2016 and 2023, over 200 communities were reportedly attacked and destroyed. The group also recalled the kidnapping and murder of the Adara Paramount Ruler, His Royal Highness Dr. Raphael Maiwada Galadima, as well as the detention of Adara elders who protested alleged marginalisation.

“The situation has moved beyond a mere security challenge; it is now a humanitarian emergency,” the statement read. “Thousands of displaced persons are sheltering under trees or in overcrowded host communities without access to farmland.”

The ADA acknowledged that the assumption of office by Governor Uba Sani initially brought some relief, allowing some displaced residents to return home. However, it said that “violence has resumed in a highly coordinated fashion,” threatening to undo earlier gains.

The association called on the Federal and Kaduna State Governments to:

Restore the Adara First-Class Chiefdom, Establish permanent security outposts, Provide emergency humanitarian aid, and Launch an independent investigation into the ongoing atrocities.

It also appealed to humanitarian agencies to conduct needs assessments and deliver essential supplies, such as food, water, medical care, and trauma support to affected populations.

“Every life lost is not just a statistic; it is a human tragedy that requires urgent action,” ADA emphasized, adding that the Adara people remain peace-loving and law-abiding, only seeking to live and farm on their ancestral lands in peace and dignity.
