Ugom Community In Kaduna Laments Daily Bandit Attacks As Gunmen Kill Youth

Residents of Ugom village in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, have issued an urgent plea for help following yet another deadly assault by armed bandits that claimed the life of a young man and left another critically injured.

According to community leaders, the attack occurred on Friday morning when gunmen ambushed unarmed residents who were attempting to escort others to a nearby market.

In a statement titled “An Urgent Cry for Protection, Justice, and Humanitarian Aid” and signed by Alhaji Ishaya Onussim of the Ugom Progressive Union, the community described living under a “brutal and unrelenting siege” for nearly a decade.

“Today’s atrocity is one of the most devastating we’ve faced,” the statement read. “Our brave, unarmed youths and elders, only trying to protect their neighbors, were ambushed and gunned down by bandits.”

The group confirmed that one of their members, Mr. Jonah Na’allah Yunana, was shot dead, while another youth sustained severe gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The statement added that the people of Ugom and the wider Kajuru area are “reeling from grief, fear, and outrage,” calling on authorities to intervene decisively.
