 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. CP GIWA FELICITATES NDỊ ENUGU STATE ON CHRISTMAS COMMEMORATION, URGES CELEBRATION IN LOVE, PEACE, AND BROTHERLINESS


The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has extended warm felicitations to the Government and good people of Enugu State, particularly Christians, as they celebrate this year’s Christmas, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.


The Commissioner of Police described Christmas as a momentous annual celebration that reminds humanity of the purpose of the birth and advent of Jesus Christ to the world, which is to bring salvation, hope, love, and redemption to believers. He urged Christians to celebrate with this consciousness, showing love, charity, and kindness to one another, especially to the needy, while remembering that Christ is the reason for the season.


CP Giwa further reiterates the unwavering commitment of the police to ensure the safety and security of all residents of Enugu State and visitors throughout the festive period. While wishing all a merry and joyous Christmas, he enjoins citizens to remain law-abiding and vigilant while celebrating and to promptly report suspicious persons or criminal activities.
