 Girlfriend Arrested After Boyfriend’s Body Found Buried in Shallow Grave Police in Tzaneen have made a significant breakthrough in a shocking murder case at Morutji Village, Bolobedu South, with the arrest of a 31-year-old woman believed to be behind the killing of her boyfriend. The victim, identified as Isaiah Thomas Maphalle (42), was reported to have been killed and later buried in a shallow grave behind his home. Police were alerted after community members raised concerns, leading to the discovery of the body. It is alleged that the victim’s remains were found wrapped in a maize meal bag. A swift investigation led officers to the deceased’s girlfriend, who was arrested on Thursday, 04 December 2025. The motive behind the killing is not yet known and remains the subject of ongoing police investigations. The suspect is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 December 2025, facing a charge of murder.

Relief and jubilation swept through the IF Academy settlement in Wannune, Tarka LGA of Benue State, as children who went missing last October have been safely reunited with their families.  


According to Timothy Chusa, who reported the incident to Benue Info-pedia, the children were taken by a Tiv girl to Nasarawa State, where she resides. Community members revealed that the suspect had allegedly planned to sell the children. However, before the plan could be executed, information reached Wannune, prompting swift intervention.  


Faced with mounting pressure, the suspect was compelled to return the children unharmed. Their safe return has sparked widespread joy and thanksgiving across the community, with residents offering prayers of gratitude for what they describe as divine intervention.  


Local leaders in Tarka LGA have commended the vigilance of the community, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding children. They also urged parents to remain alert and proactive in monitoring their wards to prevent similar incidents in the future.  


The incident has reignited conversations around child protection and security in rural communities, highlighting the need for stronger collaboration between families, local authorities, and security agencies.  


For now, the people of Wannune are celebrating the restoration of peace and the safe return of their children, a moment marked by relief, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to communal vigilance.
