Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London.  12-year-old boy critically injured in shark attack near Sydney

A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after a shark attack off Sydney, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. Sunday near Hermitage Foreshore Walk, close to Shark Beach, after emergency services received reports of a boy bitten by a shark. NSW Police said the boy was rescued from the water by Marine Area Command officers and Eastern Suburbs Police. First responders applied two medical tourniquets to his legs before he was rushed to Randwick’s Children’s Hospital with severe leg injuries.

Police believe the attack involved a large shark, likely a bull shark. NSW Police Marine Area Command Superintendent Joseph McNulty described the scene as “horrendous” and said the boy is “fighting for his life.” He explained that the boy and his friends had been jumping from a 20-foot rock into water made brackish by recent heavy rain, creating conditions that may have contributed to the attack.

The Taronga Conservation Society of Australia notes that the country averages around 20 shark incidents causing injuries each year.
