ADC Clarifies Legitimate Coalition Leadership In Kaduna

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has reaffirmed the legitimacy of its officially approved transition leadership structure, distancing the party from a recent “stakeholders’ meeting” held outside its recognized framework.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party said its attention had been drawn to discussions and developments following a meeting reportedly held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Officers Mess in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna, which some individuals claimed was a stakeholders’ gathering of the opposition coalition.

Clarifying the party’s position, the ADC stated that its National Working Committee (NWC) had already approved a Transition Leadership Template for Kaduna State.

Under this arrangement, Senator Nenadi Usman was appointed Chairman of the Kaduna State Leadership Transition Team, with Muhammadu Bashir Saidu serving as Co-Chairman.

The party added that Mallam Ibrahim Ali was subsequently appointed Secretary of the Transition Leadership Team.

According to the statement, the NWC has also issued clear and binding Terms of Reference (TOR) to guide the operations and decision-making processes of the transition team.

The ADC emphasized that these guidelines define the scope of authority of the team and must be strictly adhered to by all party members and stakeholders.

The party warned that any meeting or gathering convened outside the officially recognized State Transition Leadership Team lacks the authority to take decisions on behalf of the ADC in Kaduna State.

Such meetings, it said, can only be regarded as informal interactions without any binding implications for the party.

The ADC further stressed that all party structures approved by the NWC must be respected, noting that similar transition and organizational structures are already in place at the local government and ward levels.

Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy and discipline, the party urged members, stakeholders, and the general public to take note of the clarification and be properly guided. It also pledged to continue strengthening the opposition coalition while resisting any attempts at infiltration or destabilization.

The statement was signed by Hon. Darius Kurah, ADC Coalition Publicity Secretary, Kaduna State Chapter.
