BTS sets March comeback, ending nearly four-year hiatus
has officially set a date for its long-awaited return, confirming a March 20 comeback that will end the group’s nearly four-year hiatus. The announcement was shared on social media by BigHit Music, signaling the full reunion of all seven members following the completion of South Korea’s mandatory military service.
The group’s break began as members enlisted at different times, allowing each to pursue solo projects while fulfilling their obligations. Rapper Suga was the final member to complete service, finishing his duties as a social service agent in June 2025, an alternative role he reportedly chose because of a shoulder injury. The remaining members — RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Jung Kook, and j-hope — served in the army.
BTS had previously hinted at their return last summer, teasing a world tour and confirming plans for a new group album scheduled for release in spring 2026. Work on the project began in July 2025, with the group emphasizing that the album would reflect the individual ideas and perspectives of all seven members, approached with the same creative mindset they had at the start of their career.
The upcoming release will be BTS’s first new group album since 2022’s anthology “Proof.” It also follows their 2021 Japanese compilation “BTS, the Best,” and their last studio album, “Be,” which was released in 2020, marking a major milestone in the group’s return to full-scale activity.
