So Linus Williams (Blord) has been released from Kuje prison after fulfilling his bail conditions, finally, freedom after a few weeks in custody. However, here’s the current position of his case:  He is still expected to show up and stand his trial.  If he fails to appear in court even for one day, his bail can be revoked and a bench warrant may be issued against him, meaning a return to Kuje. If the prosecution cannot prove the charges against him, he will be discharged and acquitted. If the prosecution proves the charges, he may be sentenced and sent back to Kuje. I think he should seek a peaceful resolution to the case. Congrats to him on his freedom for now.

COAS REAFFIRMS ARMY’S COMMITMENT TO ENDURING PEACE ON PLATEAU

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army to restoring lasting peace and security on the Plateau and across the country.

The COAS gave the assurance on Tuesday 20 January 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, at the Government House, Jos, as part of his operational and familiarisation tour of Army formations in the state.

Lieutenant General Shaibu commended the Plateau State Government for its consistent support to the Nigerian Army, particularly the Armoured Corps, describing Plateau State as a strategic partner and the proud home of the Armoured Corps.

He noted that while the security challenges on the Plateau are complex, they are surmountable through sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing and the collective efforts of all stakeholders.

“The Nigerian Army will continue to deploy its personnel and resources professionally to mitigate security threats and ensure the protection of lives and property. With all hands on deck, lasting peace on the Plateau is achievable,” the COAS assured.

In his response, Governor Mutfwang congratulated Lieutenant General Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff and wished him a successful tenure.

The governor lauded the sacrifices, professionalism, and gallantry of Nigerian Army personnel nationwide, noting that despite being stretched by multiple deployments across the country, the Army has continued to rise to the occasion. He particularly commended troops under Operation ENDURING PEACE for their proactive efforts, which ensured peaceful 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations in Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed the commitment of Plateau State Government to supporting both kinetic and non-kinetic operations, while calling for sustained collaboration to address residual security challenges in some parts of the state.

In the same vein, the COAS also paid homage to the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, where he assured him of the troops’ commitment to ensuring that peace is fully restored on the Plateau.

The Gbong Gwom Jos appreciated the COAS for the visit and pledged to continue educating the youth and the people to sustain and build on the peace achieved so far.

The visit further reinforced the importance of sustained civil–military collaboration between the Nigerian Army, state governments and traditional institutions nationwide, as a critical pillar in advancing peace, stability and enduring national security.
