Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed.  Eke Awka Traders Urge FG Intervention Over Escalating Commodity Prices

‎By Chizoba Okeke

‎Traders at Eke Awka Market have appealed to the Federal Government to implement sustainable measures to address the persistent escalation in the prices of goods and commodities.

‎The appeal was made during a market survey conducted by the media to assess prevailing commodity prices and market conditions. Findings indicated a sharp increase in the prices of several items, accompanied by a steady decline in patronage as residents contend with the rising cost of living.

‎Speaking in an interview, Mrs. Joy Nwanna, a dealer in mother care products, stated that while the prices of some goods had increased, others had remained relatively stable.

‎Master Obinna Anikwe, a cosmetics merchant, attributed the upward review of product prices to the recent hike in fuel prices. He explained that increased transportation and supply costs had directly impacted the retail prices of cosmetics.

‎Mrs. Augustina Okafor, a pepper trader, disclosed that the cost of a basket of pepper had risen substantially from N30,000 to N90,000, a development she ascribed to higher transportation fares.

‎Mrs. Uchwechukwu Iyian, a vegetable vendor, noted that vegetable prices had experienced a marginal reduction owing to improved supply associated with the rainy season.

‎The traders collectively urged the government to institute measures aimed at stabilizing the economy in order to alleviate the financial burden on both sellers and consumers.
