MY MUM ONCE HID CANNABIS IN BREAD, ASKED ME TO DELIVER IT TO FELA IN PRISON – SEUN KUTI. (PHOTO).

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has shared a childhood experience involving his late parents, revealing how his mother once unknowingly made him deliver cannabis to his father, Fela Kuti, while he was in detention.

Speaking during a recent interview, Seun said the incident occurred when Fela was being held at the Federal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Alagbon Close, Lagos.

He explained that his mother, Fehintola Kuti, had hidden cannabis inside a loaf of bread and asked him to give it to his father during a visit.

“We were going to visit my father at Panti, and my mum bought bread to give to him. She hid ‘Igbo’ inside the bread and asked me to hand it over when we got there,” he said.

“Bear in mind, I was about eight or nine years old. My parents were such gangsters, man! I didn’t even know what was going on. I just got there and gave the bread to my dad.”

He added that he only became aware of what he had carried after the visit, when his sister told him the bread contained cannabis.

“On our way home, my sister asked if I knew there was Igbo in the bread. My mum had told her, but didn’t tell me because she knew I might have said something to the police,” he said.

Seun further recalled visiting his father in several detention facilities during his childhood, including Ikoyi Prison, Kirikiri Prison, Panti, and Alagbon.
