The Confederation of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups has called on voters in Kaduna Central Senatorial District to support former senator Shehu Sani in the 2027 elections, describing him as a leader capable of delivering effective representation in the National Assembly.
Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, the Director General of the APC Support Groups in the state, Professor Kailani Muhammad, praised Sani’s performance during the 8th Senate and said his return would strengthen legislative debate and contribute to national development.
According to Muhammad, residents across Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, Kajuru, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South are looking for more than just political representation. He said the people desire a leader who genuinely understands their struggles and can speak boldly on their behalf.
He described Shehu Sani as a symbol of courage, consistency, and compassion, noting that during his first tenure in the Senate, he remained connected to grassroots communities and was known for speaking openly on national issues.
Muhammad recalled that Sani gained national attention for publicly revealing the salaries and running costs of senators, which he said promoted transparency and accountability in government.
He also praised the former senator for opposing loans he believed would place unnecessary financial burdens on future generations.
The APC support group leader further stated that Nigerians were tired of “robotic leadership” and needed representatives who understood the realities faced by ordinary citizens, especially farmers, youths, and vulnerable communities.
Highlighting Sani’s achievements between 2015 and 2019, Muhammad said the former senator facilitated the construction and equipping of primary healthcare centres, installed over 200 solar-powered boreholes, and provided solar streetlights across several communities in Kaduna Central.
He added that Sani also renovated classroom blocks, supported widows and internally displaced persons through welfare programmes, and distributed empowerment tools such as sewing machines, grinding machines, and motorcycles to youths and women.
On security, Muhammad said Sani supported local vigilante groups with patrol vehicles and communication equipment, particularly in areas affected by banditry, including Birnin Gwari and Giwa.
He also credited the former senator with promoting peace initiatives and sponsoring free medical outreach programmes that provided surgeries, medications, and eye care services for thousands of residents.
Muhammad maintained that Sani’s return to the Senate would align with the APC’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and restore what he described as “people-oriented representation” in Kaduna Central.
He therefore urged APC support groups across the district to mobilise grassroots support for the former senator ahead of the 2027 elections.
