Global music icons BTS, Shakira, and Madonna are set to headline FIFA’s first-ever World Cup Final Halftime Show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.
The event, announced on May 14, will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise $100 million to expand access to education and football for children worldwide.
In addition, $1 from every ticket sold during the tournament will be donated to charity.
The halftime show is being curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who described it as a celebration of diversity through music, dance, and performance.
In a playful video featuring Elmo and the Muppets, Martin emphasized the show’s mission to highlight the beauty of humanity, while teasing that fans can expect some surprises during the performance.
The World Cup itself kicks off on June 11 and will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. For the performers, this marks a milestone moment.
Shakira, who famously performed the 2010 World Cup anthem “Waka Waka,” returns to the global stage, while Madonna makes her debut at the event just weeks before releasing her new album Confessions II.
BTS, fresh off their Arirang World Tour, will join the lineup after completing their European shows.
The group expressed their excitement on Instagram, confirming their participation alongside Shakira and Madonna in what promises to be a historic halftime spectacle.
