 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Trafficker Bags 7 Years Imprisonment, N4 Million Fine


The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on 7th May, 2026 sentenced one Bose Jimoh to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of N4 million for organizing foreign travels that promote prostitution and the intentional exportation of victims for exploitation, contrary to Sections 14(b) and 18 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act (TIPPEA) 2015.


A four-count charge was filed against the defendant, Bose Jimoh, on 15th October, 2025. Having been found guilty on all counts, the defendant was convicted and sentenced as follows:


*Five (5) years imprisonment and a fine of N1 million on Count 1 for exportation of persons knowing that such persons would be subjected to exploitation;

* Five (5) years imprisonment and a fine of N1 million on Count 2 for exportation of persons knowing that such persons would be subjected to exploitation;

* Seven (7) years imprisonment and a fine of N1 million on Count 3 for organizing foreign travel that promotes prostitution; and

* Seven (7) years imprisonment and a fine of N1 million on Count 4 for organizing foreign travel that promotes prostitution under the TIPPEA Act 2015.


The terms of imprisonment are to run concurrently, with effect from 7th May, 2026.
