Shakira is looking back on the challenges that tested her and the lessons she took from them.
The global music star says the past few years have taught her more about her own strength than she ever expected.
Speaking as she prepares for another major chapter in her career, Shakira reflected on the personal struggles she faced in the public eye, including her highly publicized split from former partner Gerard Piqué and a lengthy legal battle in Spain that has since been resolved in her favor.
According to the singer, those experiences forced her to see herself differently.
"I always thought I was more fragile than life proved me to be," she said.
Now 49, the Colombian superstar believes every difficult moment carried a lesson, even the painful ones.
"Behind every experience in life, there's always a lesson," she explained. "We have to be grateful for those lessons, even for the people who leave scars."
Rather than dwelling on setbacks, Shakira says she chooses to focus on what they taught her.
She believes challenges can help people grow, adding that some of life's toughest moments ultimately leave them stronger than before.
Those reflections also connect with her latest collaboration with Nigerian star Burna Boy. Their song *Dai Dai*, selected as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, carries a message of resilience through lyrics about finding strength after hardship.
For Shakira, the theme feels personal.
After years of navigating public scrutiny, personal heartbreak and professional battles, she says she has emerged with a greater appreciation for her own resilience and a deeper understanding of who she is.
Today, she stands at the top of her profession once again, breaking records on tour and preparing to co-headline the first World Cup Final halftime show.
For Shakira, the road back was not always easy, but it helped shape the woman she is today.
