  Two arrested over k!lling of popular Kano Social Media political commentator The police in Kano State says two persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a popular political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu. Ibrahim, who is known on social media for his strong views on politics and religion in Nigeria, was found dead with his throat slit in his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Monday, September 9.  Confirming the incident to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call about the incident on Monday at about 11:30pm.  “Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed de@d on arrival by a medical doctor,” the statement said The police said the Kumbotso Divisional Police Officer have arrested the two suspects in connection with the unfor...

 Ugandan opposition figure Besigye in ICU after court collapse: wife


Detained prominent Ugandan opposition figure Kizza Besigye, who collapsed while in court on Wednesday, is unconscious and has been admitted to an intensive care unit, his wife said in an X post early on Thursday.


Besigye, 70, collapsed in a court in the capital Kampala where he is standing trial for treason. He was taken away in an ambulance.


In a post on the X platform, Winnie Byanyima, who also heads ⁠the United Nations AIDS programme UNAIDS, said her husband had been admitted to an ICU at Mulago National Referral Hospital in the capital.


"He is unconscious, unable to speak, and unresponsive even to a pain stimulus," she said, Reuters reported.


Besigye has been in custody since November 2024 after he was detained together with his aide Obeid Lutale and subsequently charged with treason.
