Israel DMW Reacts to Alleged Edo State Ban on Davido: 'No One Can Ban Him From His Maternal Home' Israel DMW, the outspoken logistics manager for Afrobeats superstar Davido, has vehemently rejected reports suggesting that the singer has been banned from performing in Edo State. Taking to social media, Israel, an Edo State indigene himself, insisted that no individual has the authority to prevent the music icon from entering or performing in the state. The Alleged Ban and Its Origins The controversy erupted following statements reportedly made by Apostle Kassy Chukwu, the Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.  ‎ACTDA Urges Proper Housing Planning to Prevent Slums and Build a Livable Awka

‎By Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige

‎A house without a plan becomes a slum. A city without planning becomes chaos. That is the core message from the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, as Anambra’s population grows. For ACTDA, housing planning is not just about putting up structures. It is about creating safe, affordable, and dignified communities with roads, water, electricity, drainage, schools, hospitals, markets, and security built in from the start. When developers plan first, they avoid the cost of fixing problems later.

‎ACTDA is the government agency in charge of planning, developing, and regulating the Awka Capital Territory. It covers 23 town from 6 local government areas, including: Adazi-Nnukwu, Agulu, Nri, Amansea, Mgbakwu, Isuaniocha, Urum, Awka, Amawbia, Mbaukwu, Isiagu, Nibo, Nise, Okpuno, Umuawulu, Nawgu, Ukpo, Abagana, Enugwu-Agidi, Enugwu-Ukwu, Nimo, and Nawfia.

‎ACTDA's work is guided by 10 key principles: every development must follow an approved layout; homes must be affordable and accessible for low- and middle-income families, not just the wealthy; health, safety, and sanitation are non-negotiable; the environment must be protected; infrastructure must be provided.

‎Again, land must be used efficiently to prevent overcrowding; builders must obey the law; residents must be carried along in decisions; designs must be inclusive of people with disabilities; and communities must be livable, not just buildable. These principles form ACTDA’s blueprint for a livable Awka.

‎Good housing planning reduces slums, protects public health, creates jobs, improves security, and increases property values. It also makes it easier for government to deliver services. But the challenges are heavy: rapid population growth, high cost of land and materials, limited access to mortgages, slow approval processes, weak enforcement of planning laws, land disputes, flooding, and the spread of slums.

‎The Soludo administration has placed urban renewal and infrastructure at the center of its Awka agenda.  But citizens also have a responsibility: get approval from ACTDA first before building, follow the approved plan, avoid blocking drainages or building on setbacks, pay taxes, keep surroundings clean, plant trees, and report illegal developments. As an ACTDA official put it.

‎"When people build without approval, they create problems for themselves and the entire community during flooding or demolition.”
