  Two arrested over k!lling of popular Kano Social Media political commentator The police in Kano State says two persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a popular political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu. Ibrahim, who is known on social media for his strong views on politics and religion in Nigeria, was found dead with his throat slit in his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Monday, September 9.  Confirming the incident to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call about the incident on Monday at about 11:30pm.  “Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed de@d on arrival by a medical doctor,” the statement said The police said the Kumbotso Divisional Police Officer have arrested the two suspects in connection with the unfor...

 Family seeks justice after two men kidnapped and murdered along Dendron Road


A family is appealing for justice after two men were allegedly kidnapped along the R521 Dendron Road and later found dead with gunshot wounds in August 2025.


The victims have been identified by the family as 21-year-old Choene Goven Sekobela and 37-year-old Leonard Shumba.


According to the family, the two men were travelling along the R521 Dendron Road on 19 August 2025 when they were allegedly kidnapped.


Their bodies were reportedly discovered later that day near Kushke Road by a woman who was returning from work. The woman allegedly alerted the police, prompting an investigation.


The family said they were later notified that the men’s vehicle had been found at Ga-Semenya, outside Polokwane, with the stock they had reportedly purchased still inside the vehicle.


The stock allegedly included live chickens and alcohol.


On 21 August 2025, the family was reportedly asked to check the government mortuary, where they identified the two men.


According to the family, both victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Sekobela was allegedly shot twice, while Shumba sustained seven gunshot wounds.


The family says the discovery devastated their loved ones and left them seeking answers about what happened to the two men and why they were killed.


A suspect linked to the case appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 27 July 2026.


According to the family, the suspect remains in custody and is being held at a Johannesburg correctional facility in connection with previous convictions.


The family is now appealing for continued attention to the case as the legal process unfolds.


They say they want justice for Sekobela and Shumba and hope that everyone involved in their kidnapping and murders will be held accountable.
