 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem. THE LEG OF A LAWMA WORKER FUNKE WAS AMPUTATED,AFTER A BUS DRIVER CHINEDU KNOCKED HER DOWN AT IGANDO.

                  38 year old Obi Chinedu a public bus driver,has been arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrate for allegedly knocking down a staff of Lagos State Waste Management Authority,LAWMA,which led to the amputation of her leg in a hospital in Lagos state.The incident happened at Cele bus stop along Isheri-Igando expressway where the victim Mrs Funke Olorunda was on official duty.She was rushed to Igando General Hospital where she was referred to the National Orthopedic Hospital in Igobi Lagos.Due to the seriousness of the injury she sustained,her left leg was amputated to save her life.She is now walking with one leg with the aid of a walking stick.The bus driver was arrested and detained at the police station in Idimu Division before he was charged to court with driving in a dangerous manner and knocking down Funke which caused amputation of her leg.Chinedu,through his counsel,informed the court about his regrets concerning the accident and expressed his willingness to settle the matter out of court and treat the victim.The presiding Magistrate,Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the like sum.Chinedu was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail condition.The case was adjourned till 6th of September,2015.
