 13 BRIGADE TROOPS RESCUE 18 PASSENGERS AFTER BOAT HIJACKING Troops of 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 18 passengers, including 2 infants, following a hijacking incident on a passenger boat traveling from Nigeria to Cameroon on 11 January 2026. A distress call reported that suspected sea pirates, operating in  two speed boats and a wooden boat, hijacked a passenger boat moving  from Nigeria to Cameroon. The passengers were kidnapped along Kombo Fishing Port within Cameroon waterways. Responding swiftly, 13 Brigade troops deployed at Ikang pursued the criminals, resulting in an exchange of fire that caused one of the pirates’ speed boats to capsize. The pirates abandoned their victims and fled into the surrounding creeks. All passengers were rescued unharmed. 2 GROUPS CLASH INFRONT OF A HOTEL,IN BURKINA FASO TODAY OVER THE COUP.

                      It was reported today that two groups are causing a scene out side the main hotel in Burkina Faso's capital where the talks are taking place with regional mediators.One group opposed to the new regime chanting ''No military rule'',while the other group chanted its support for the Junta.Soldiers protected the two opposition leaders from an angry mob that had tried to stop them from entering the hotel.Tension remains high in Burkina Faso following the coup that deposed a transitional government which was organizing national elections for October 11.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
