 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. COMMONWEALTH APPOINTS EX-PRESIDENT GOODLUCK,TO RESOLVE THE CRISIS IN ZANZIBAR ISLAND.

                           The Commonwealth has appointed former President Goodluck Jonathan to lead the charge for the resolution of the political stalemate in the semi-independent Island of Zanzibar.Jonathan's new appointment as Commonwealth Special representative is seen as an affirmation of the former President's towering status as the moral face of democracy and transparent polling in Africa,The new appointment was conveyed to Jonathan last week in a letter sent to him by the Commonwealth Secretary General,Mr Kamalesh Sharma.Goodluck Jonathan's appointment followed his highly acclaimed leadership of the Commonwealth Observer Group {COG} to last months's Tanzania general election.After the October 25 general election which produced John Magufuli as the new President of Tanzania,the Jonathan led COG and other international observers had endorsed the polling processes as credible.Now John has been drafted to quell the tension brewing on the Island of Zanzibar,following the nullification of the Presidential election results by the local electoral body,citing irregularities.International observers have continued to dispute the decision,on the grounds that both the voting and counting processes were held in an atmosphere of peace.One more photo below.
