 Death toll from Kenyan floods rises to 62, police say A total of 62 people including eight ​children have died since heavy rains ‌and flooding hit Kenya's capital Nairobi and other areas ​late last week, police ​said, Reuters reported. The capital ⁠was the worst hit ​with 33 deaths, the force ​said in a statement on X that updated the official tally ​of casualties. More than ​2,000 families have been displaced across ‌Kenya ⁠and intense rain was continuing in several regions, it added. Aid workers started pulling ​bodies ​from floodwaters ⁠across Nairobi last Saturday after overnight ​flash floods swept away ​dozens ⁠of cars and disrupted flights at East Africa's ⁠biggest ​airport. A tally issued ​last Sunday put the death toll ​at 42.

COMMISSIONER FOR ENVIRONMENT,CONDEMNS ATTACK ON KAI HEADQUARTERS BY STUDENTS OF COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY.

               The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on Environment,Hon. Babatunde Hunpe,has condemned the recent attack on the KAI Brigade Headquarters in Alausa,Ikeja,by some students of the Lagos State College of Health Technology,Yaba under the guise of Protest.The Special Adviser said the unruly students claimed to have attacked the Headquarters based on the continued detention of some of their colleagues earlier arrested for obstructing KAI operations in Yaba,adding that such distasteful and unfortunate behaviour is an affront on constituted authority.Speaking in the same vein,the KAI Marshal General {KMG},Mr Jimoh Amuzat CSP {Rtd},denounced the attack by the students on a government property,saying that the ugly episode depicts the level of moral decadence that pervades our educational institutions.While emphasizing that there is need for moral and ethical rebirth among our youths,Amuzat said some of the students arrested were later released but those that spearheaded the violence have been charged to court based on their level of culpability in the incident.One more photo below.
