 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

ANGLICAN BISHOP OF MAIDUGURI DIOCESE COMMENDED THE NIGERIAN ARMY FOR COMBATING BOKO HARAM.{PHOTO}.


      The Anglican Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, Rt Revd Emmanuel Morris has commended Officers and men of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army for the active role and services rendered by the Division in combating Boko Haram Terrorists adding that only God can reward them enough for the sacrifices. The Bishop gave this commendation during his courtesy visit to the Headquarters 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri Borno state.
The Bishop who is also an Ambassador of Peace noted that God used military to salvage the north East from Boko Haram invasion making it possible for the citizens to go about their lawful duties. ‘’We are not ignorant of your sacrifices to this nation and that is what necessitated this visit to show our appreciation. You are peace makers and peace is a concept that has to do with life. We as religious leaders will continue to offer prayers for divine protection over you and your household’’.
The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division , Brigadier General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf in his response thanked the Bishop for the visit which he said is a spiritual upliftment to the Division and the entire troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE. He noted that religious harmony is key to sustainable peace in a secular society like Nigeria and called for better understanding and tolerance among religious leaders in the country.
The GOC also used the opportunity of the visit to solicit for supports of the religious leaders in the ongoing operation to flush out Boko Haram in the region by giving relevant information that will aid the troops in their operation.
