 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. COURT SENDS FORMER QUICKPAY STAFF TO 1 YEAR IMPRISONMENT FOR FRAUD IN GOMBE.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Justice J.A. Awak of the Gombe State High Court, Gombe, Gombe on Thursday, July 1, 2021, convicted and sentenced one Benson Tivesue, a former staff of Quickpay Digital Solutions to one year imprisonment on one count charge of criminal misappropriation brought against him by the Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.


The convict was investigated and prosecuted by the EFCC after a petition by his former employer, Quickpay Digital Solutions, Gombe State office, alleging that he diverted the sum of N117,000 (One Hundred and Seventeen Thousand Naira only), being funds collected for the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) to which he converted to personal use.


The offence is contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 309 of the same law.


 When the charge was read to the defendant he pleaded guilty, prompting his conviction and sentencing by the judge.


Tivensue was however given an option of N20, 000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira) fine.


The court ordered him to restitute the nominal complainant to the tune of N57,000,00 (Fifty-Seven Thousand Naira only), which is to be paid within three months of the judgment.
