 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. COURT SENDS FORMER QUICKPAY STAFF TO 1 YEAR IMPRISONMENT FOR FRAUD IN GOMBE.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Justice J.A. Awak of the Gombe State High Court, Gombe, Gombe on Thursday, July 1, 2021, convicted and sentenced one Benson Tivesue, a former staff of Quickpay Digital Solutions to one year imprisonment on one count charge of criminal misappropriation brought against him by the Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.


The convict was investigated and prosecuted by the EFCC after a petition by his former employer, Quickpay Digital Solutions, Gombe State office, alleging that he diverted the sum of N117,000 (One Hundred and Seventeen Thousand Naira only), being funds collected for the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) to which he converted to personal use.


The offence is contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 309 of the same law.


 When the charge was read to the defendant he pleaded guilty, prompting his conviction and sentencing by the judge.


Tivensue was however given an option of N20, 000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira) fine.


The court ordered him to restitute the nominal complainant to the tune of N57,000,00 (Fifty-Seven Thousand Naira only), which is to be paid within three months of the judgment.
