 An Alabama woman, Towana Looney, made headlines by living with a genetically modified pig kidney for a record 130 days before her body began rejecting it.  The organ was removed on April 4 at NYU Langone Health. Looney has since returned home to Gadsden, Alabama, and is back on dialysis. Despite the outcome, she expressed gratitude for being part of this groundbreaking xenotransplantation research, hoping her experience will help others battling kidney disease. This experiment is part of a broader effort to address the U.S. organ shortage, where over 100,000 people await transplants. Scientists are genetically modifying pig organs to make them more compatible with humans. Looney’s case is notable because, unlike earlier xenotransplant patients who were critically ill, she was healthier, allowing for a longer observation period. Operative Of Nigeria's Secret Police, DSS Shot Dead In Imo


An operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) identified as Prince Nwachinaemere Ezemuonye Ozuzu has been shot dead in Owerri, the Imo state capital.


Daily Trust reports that the officer, from Umuoyo, Irete in the Owerri West Local Government Area of the state was murdered on Owerri-Onitsha Road.


The incident came less than 48 hours after gunmen burnt the DSS office in Nnewi, Anambra State.


The officer was said to have been deployed for an official duty in Anambra a few hours after the burning of the DSS office in Nnewi.


He was said to have been killed while returning to his station.


The details of the incident are still sketchy as another account said that he was killed by an accidental discharge.


An account said a bullet mistakenly fired by one of his colleagues was said to have hit him.


“The family is suspecting foulplay as he was said to have been recently promoted.


“He joined the service about four to five years ago and was married with four children.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
