So Linus Williams (Blord) has been released from Kuje prison after fulfilling his bail conditions, finally, freedom after a few weeks in custody. However, here’s the current position of his case:  He is still expected to show up and stand his trial.  If he fails to appear in court even for one day, his bail can be revoked and a bench warrant may be issued against him, meaning a return to Kuje. If the prosecution cannot prove the charges against him, he will be discharged and acquitted. If the prosecution proves the charges, he may be sentenced and sent back to Kuje. I think he should seek a peaceful resolution to the case. Congrats to him on his freedom for now.

WORLD CULTURAL DAY 2022- CULTURE, NATIONAL UNITY AND SECURITY

The World Cultural Day is celebrated on the 21st of May every year. This day celebrates not only the richness of world cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.

The United Nations General Assembly first declared this World Day in 2002, following UNESCO’s adoption of the 2001 universal declaration on cultural diversity, recognizing the need to enhance the potentials of culture as a means of achieving prosperity, sustainable development and global peaceful coexistence.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Dr. Ifeoma Anyanwutaku, in celebration of the World Cultural Day, has said that culture is an instrument for peace, unity, development and economic growth. The Permanent Secretary stated that ‘’the composition of activities, cultural festivals, dances, drama and attires are veritable instruments used in depicting the culture of the country, adding that the youth should imbibe and also invest in our culture, so as to stay focused and not be used as tools to perpetuate evil in the society.’’

She appreciated everyone for coming for the sensitization and awareness road walk which she officially flagged-off with the cutting of the ribbon. She was joined by Staff of the Ministry and other stakeholders on the road walk from the Federal Secretariat to Radio House Herbert Macaulay way, Abuja.
