 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. Takalafia Holds Mass Burial For Residents Killed By Unknown Gunmen

Gunmen suspected to be fulani herdsmen wreaked havoc on Takalafia community and environs in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. 

The pastor in-charge of the community's Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev. Daniel Danbeki and other residents were gruesomely murdered by the assailants during the attack on Thursday night which lasted till early hours of Friday May 12. 

Properties of the residents including foodstuffs worth millions of naira were also destroyed by the assailants. 

Neighbouring communities namely Gwanja and Angwan Bege according to reports were also attacked. 

Other residents of the communities who are predominantly Gwandara, Mada and Yeskwe among others also sustained various degrees of injuries. 

The Executive Chairman of Karu Local Governnent Area, Mr James Thomas who visited the community on Saturday condemned the attack in totality. 

Thomas represented by his Deputy, Mr Lawal Yakubu Karshi who warned the residents against reprisal vowed to arrest the perpetrators in order to face the full wrath of the law. 

Mass burial was held for the deceased victims in the community.
