 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. Why we don't have Tinubu's portraits in our offices - Abia gov.

The Abia State Government has explained the absence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s portraits in some of its offices.

The governor, Dr Alex Otti, dismissed claims that the absence was due to his administration’s none recognition of Tinubu as Nigeria’s President.

Otti was reacting to some online reports over the absence of the president’s portraits in some offices within the Government House.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the state government had the president’s portraits in some offices but not in all, adding that the same applies to the governor as well.

“We don’t have the governor’s portraits in most offices because this is a new government. We have placed some pictures and ordered for more. It has nothing to do with politics.

“The day the governor met with permanent secretaries we still had the former Governor Ikpeazu’s portrait in the banquet hall.

“It is criminal to say that the person who was duly sworn in as president will not be recognised. It doesn’t make sense, and we don’t think it is in that direction,” Ekeoma was quoted by Magic FM.

He said the media reports to that effect must have been sponsored by the opposition in the state to discredit Governor Otti.
