 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. Gunmen ki!ll businessman in Niger state

Gunmen have kil!led a businessman, Alhaji Abdul-Samiu Jimoh, in Mokwa town, headquarters of Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

A resident, Idris Mohammed told Daily Trust that the victim was k!illed in his shop around 8pm on Tuesday October 10, when he resisted being taken away by the gunmen. 

“The businessman was sh0t because he didn’t agree to be taken away by the gunmen who insisted he should follow them. It was while dragging with them that they sh0t him,” he said. 

Spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, has confirmed the incident.

“On 10/10/2023 at about 2145hrs, information was received that suspected armed robbers/kidn@ppers attacked the shop of one Alhaji Samiu Jimoh, a spare parts seller on Bida Road around Bi-water area of Mokwa," he stated. 

The PPRO added that before the police could arrive at the scene of the incident, the victim was found to have been sh0t by the hoodlums and was rushed to the Mokwa General Hospital where he was confirmed de@d.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
