 Umueri Crisis Claim: False, Election to Hold April 8 - Says Anambra East Mayor By Nwegbo Ifeanyi  The Anambra East LG Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze, has denied allegations of a leadership crisis in Umueri General Assembly, calling the statement from Ikenga Umueri Unity Forum " false and misleading. Addressing journalists, Chinweze said Umueri is peaceful, with town union elections scheduled for April 8, 2026. He claimed Ikenga Umueri Unity Forum, which issued the statement, is actually frustrating the election with selfish motives.  He distanced himself, PG Chief John Metchie, and electoral committee chairman Barr. Eugene Aghaebe from the allegations, saying they were innocent. The controversy arose after Chinweze insisted Ikenga should not hold key positions like, Secretary, and Vice President simultaneously since they have president general, considering Umueri's three quarters (Ezi, Ikenga, and Invite). I5 PERSONS KILLED IN OTUKPO 4 BANKS ROBBERY. (PHOTOS).

15 persons killed In Otukpo 4 Banks Robbery. 

 Armed robbers attacked four banks in Otukpo and killed 15 people today. The Banks are: Access Bank, First Bank, U.B.A and Zenith Bank.

The information had it that seven persons were killed at the UBA, two persons were killed at Zenith Bank, two at Stanbic IBTC while about three perons were killed at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Otukpo which is located directly opposite, beside and adjacent the main branch of First Bank in Otukpo town, the Stanbic Bank and Access Banks.

Also,  at the Homeland Defense Office, the local vigilantes' office, two persons were gunned down but only one of them is alive at the time of filing this report.
 They robbed uniteruptedly for two hours and left comfortably... 
The report also has it that as the robbers were making out of the town after two hours of uninterrupted robbery, soldiers reportedly barricaded them along Otukpo/Taraku road and killed one of the robbers during exchange of gunfire. However, the robbers successfully left with deceased gang member's remains.

 This means that the whole of Otukpo did not have enough security to be attacked in a day time and 4 banks robbed comfortably...
  We call on the relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators of this act to book as we pray for the departed souls.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
