Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  INEC Seeks Support Of NAF For Logistics Delivery

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says the commission will collaborate with the Nigeria Air Force in the distribution of materials to the three locations in the North East, South East, South West geo political zones of the country.


Professor Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman stated this in Abuja when he visited the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.


Professor Yakubu said the visit was necessary due to the act that, the commission would conduct bye-elections and re-run elections in 26 States of the Federation this Saturday.


“In all the elections, Candidates will fill vacancies in three Senatorial Districts, 17 Federal and 28 State Constituencies spread across 80 Local Government Areas, 575 Registration Areas/Wards and 8,934 Polling Units involving 4,904,627 registered voters out of which 4,613,291 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) have been collected.”


The INEC Chairman said that the law empowered the Commission to seek the support of the security, intelligence and law enforcement agencies in the delivery of materials and the protection of election officials as clearly provided for in section 27(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.


Professor Yakubu explained that the Commission had already indicated to the Chief of the Air Staff the specific locations and the tonnage of materials to be airlifted.


He lauded the Armed Forces for always maintaining neutrality and professionalism during election operations.


Responding, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar promised to support the Electoral Body in its efforts to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the country.


He told the INEC Chairman that the materials could be delivered a little earlier due to the capacity of the Aircraft that was available.
