Benue state government expresses concerns over the invasion of snakes in IDP camps

The Benue State Government has expressed concern over the presence of snakes in some of the Internally Displaced Persons camps across the state.

James Iorpuu, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, highlighted this concern during the recent distribution of relief materials to the IDPs in Wednesday.

He mentioned that 15 persons have received treatment for snake bites, which ran into millions. “I am pleased to report that we have successfully treated over 15 cases across various camps, thanks to the swift action of our health teams and the support from our partners,”he said.

He added that to curtail the occurrence of snake bites in the camps, the agency had fumigated all the camps, including the Ikyogen camp

Mr. Iorpuu therefore called attention to the need for ongoing support from local and international partners in addressing the issue.
